Website form not sending? How to check whether enquiries are being lost

A broken form is the most expensive fault that website owners usually don't know about: customers still press send, but nobody receives anything. Weme has found this fault on many websites before taking them over.

Written for businesses operating in Vietnam; laws and prices cited are Vietnamese.

Signs your form has a problem

  • The website has visitors but nobody has left their details for weeks.
  • Customers say they submitted the form but you never received it.
  • Notification emails land in spam or never arrive.

Check it yourself in 5 minutes

  1. On your phone (Wi-Fi off, using mobile data), open the website and submit the form with the name "TEST".
  2. Check: is there a success message? Did the email/Zalo notification arrive? Is it in spam?
  3. Try the other forms one by one: quote, call-back, contact.
  4. If you use WordPress: check that the form plugin (e.g. Contact Form 7) is still active and its email settings are correct.

Never silently lose a customer

  • Store every request in a second place (a spreadsheet or database), not just in email.
  • Get instant notifications on a channel you use every day, such as Zalo.
  • Track the "form submitted" event in Google Analytics so you notice immediately when it drops to zero.
  • Submit a test form every week: Weme's Care plan does this routinely.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether my website form works?

Submit a test from a phone using mobile data and check whether you receive the notification; repeat for each form. Do it weekly.

Why does the form say "sent" but no email arrives?

Usually the host blocks the mail function or the email goes to spam. Send via SMTP, store leads in a second place and get notifications via Zalo.
